I went to the Pinnacle Saturday afternoon. In the stringybark forest saw pair of leaden flycatchers in the usual spot. Only 2 adult sittellas. Lots of clustered and common everlastings in flower, some pimelias, New Holland daisies finishing. No rainbow lorikeets.

Walking up from the dam in the centre of the Pinnacle I saw a large mixed feeding flock with 2 speckled warblers- this is the first time I have seen speckled warblers in the tree plantings, not in the established stringybark forest. As I was watching the MFF, an echidna walked right up to me, sniffing until it was within 1.5m and could actually see me, then trundled off.

Moving towards the eastern edge of Hawker/Weetangera there were 6 dollarbirds including at least 2 juveniles being fed by adults. At 103 Springvale Dr, above the driveway there was a black faced cuckoo shrike on a nest, in plain view. On heading back and reaching Woolner circuit I heard and then saw a juvenile Eastern spinebill. Only my second this spring/summer (the other being in Bot gardens), and I have been walking a lot- Where are they!!! I theorise the drought, and water restrictions, may have caused some changes in the vegetation and possibly food sources, causing them to move to the coast, or die??
