I spent 8 days in Mollymook (Ulladulla) from Sunday 23 January to Sunday 30 January. I undertook some limited birdwatching, mostly in the mornings before it got too hot. I visited most sites I had visited last 2 years ago. I have listed the highlights below: # A 1.5m Diamond Python smack bang in the middle of Mollymook Beach on 25 Jan! # Southern Emu-wrens (4) had returned to Warden's Head after the bushfire there some years ago. # Southern Emu-wrens also at South Pacific Heathland Reserve, Little Forest Plateau in Morton National Park and Barnunj State Recreation Area. # 4 Glossy Black-Cockatoos, including 1 begging young, at South Pacific Heathland Reserve. # A dark morph Eastern Reef Egret flying over Mollymook Beach. # At least 3 Little Corellas in central Ulladulla and also at Mollymook Beach. # No less than 32 Sooty Oystercatchers roosting together on a rock platform off Warden's Head. # White-throated Needletails at Mollymook Beach (40 on 26 Jan) and Warden's Head (4 on 25 Jan). # A Buff-banded Rail in the exact same spot as 2 years ago along the shore of Burrill Lake. It was feeding in someones front lawn and was not as secretive as our 'local' birds. # A Pilotbird at Pointers Gap Lookout in Morton NP. # A female Rose Robin, Variegated Fairy-wrens and possibly heard a Beautiful Firetail all in Morton NP. # A 2m Lace Monitor and a Whistling Kite at Meroo NP. # Black-faced Monarch, Variegated Fairy-wrens and a Sea-Eagle at Barnunj SRA.
