I have checked around
aviculturists. We don't know anyone who keeps bar shouldered doves in
Canberra at
the moment. There were some at the
Canberra Walk in Aviary but Bruce sold them all to a guy down the coast, about 2 years ago. That doesn't mean that
noone keeps them. I guess the chance of it being an escapee is very low.
Is it possible that the bird may
be a spotted turtle dove, from a distance they can look the same. I hope it isnt, in more ways than one, and I would
love to see a bar shouldered dove.
