Why is it that we never see any of you guys when WE go
to Kelly's???? You'd be really helpful, as we haven't
spotted crakes yet!
Anyway, yesterday we were in Cygnus hide at 5-6pm and
we saw 2 royal spoonbills and a number of pink-eared
ducks. The spoonbills had breeding head plumes, but
our book says that these birds in the south breed from
Sept - Nov and in the north from Feb to April. Are
these late or early??
They were sleeping, woke up, preened and went "back to
bed". It was only when they were preening that we saw
their bills.
it was so beautiful at that time of day there...
Bye,
Cheers, Meredith and Julian
