Jean, the escapee bird is usually called a yellow-fronted kakariki by bird
keepers, who may not recognise the other names. The species occurs naturally in
NZ and is not that expensive to buy here.
My highlights for the year were probably, in ACT, glossy black cockatoos as my
200th tick, at Majura. And just outside COG area of interest, highlight was
hundreds of honeyeaters, particularly yellow-tufted honeyeaters, near Boorowa.
