A reliable observer who walks Mt Rogers regularly
saw the SP first on 7th December.
Today there were several groups around, some
feeding on Acacia pravissima pods others grouped in Eucalypts. I have
also seen them in A baileyana.
It's possible this year that the juveniles have
come towards ACT as more mature birds than in previous years. This seems to
mean they are already moving into other feeding areas & not needing to spend
their days in "creches" whilst the parents forage for them.
To find them currently around Mt Rogers it helps to
know their calls as they are not very sedentary this summer.
