It's a shame I was away from Cairns in late December to early January, as it
would have been great to have met some of my old friends from Birding-Aus like
you Russell, who travelled up here to see the Normann's Greenshank...

I returned to Cairns on Thursday 7/01 with my partner Sally Sheldon, and we
together managed to have some excellent looks at this wonderful bird before
long that day too!!

Happy New Year to everyone here on Birding-Aus from us too!!

Great to meet up with a few other birders on Cairns Esplanade this afternoon to
get good views of the Nordmann’s Greenshank discovered and photographed by
Adrian Walsh earlier today. His photos are on eBird and show the bird beside a
Common Greenshank as well as with lifted wings. What a stunning bird to kick
off the new year!

Happy New Year to all - hope your year is bird-filled and safe
