Hi Stephen,

For Ground Parrot, you can also try the Nature Walk not far out of town on
Betka Road (just before the river).

Southern Emu-wren are pretty common in any areas of heath. You just need to
listen for the high-pitched (and faint) calls.

Beautiful Firetail can be found in many places, but an easy location is near
Bastion Point in the melaluca by the car park.

Turquoise Parrot - to be honest, I've never seen them at Mallacoota (a bit
slack of me) - so I'll let others answer that, although I was always told that
the airport was the best location.

I am going to Mallacoota next month, and wonder if any local birders can give
me advice. I know the area has tons of species, but I am particularly after
Ground Parrots, Beautiful Firetails, Emu-wrens and Turquoise Parrots.

I know the Nadgee park across the border is a Ground Parrot site, but it’s a
huge area, so I’d like specific advice.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Stephen
