For over a decade two friends have battled illegal land clearing and shooting on a large property they bought for conservation purposes near Lithgow in NSW. It has been a very sorry saga with no small amount of official malfeasance in a region made famous for this through Eddie Obeid and Ian McDonald. Much of their struggle has been documented as part of a new movie about Australia's schizophrenic relationship with its national icon - the kangaroo.
