Hi all Having just come back from the coast of Sydney and reading the article yesterday in the November enews on the endangered Far Eastern Curlew, I wonder if anyone can confirm that the bird in the two attached pictures (low resolution) is of the Far Eastern Curlew. (I have several other photos and can supply much higher resolution material if desired.) I am new to bird photography but also managed at the same time to get a few photos of the Whimbrel where I can clearly see the dark stripes on its crown and also a relatively short bill compared to the bird in the photos. The bird in the attached photos lacks any stripes on its crown as far as I can see and has, compared to the whimbrel I saw, a very long beak.
