This morning I got a message in my email of a post to birding-aus from
Frank O'Connor. It had no content so I queried it with Frank. Here is his
reply, which I pass on in case others had the same problem I did.

No. This is what I sent.

Can anyone recommend how to go about repairs to my Leica Ultravid
binoculars. The metal attachment on the right that holds the strap has
broken off. The binoculars themselves could do with a clean but the optics
are basically fine. I am currently overseas so I can't phone the companies
below until I get home at the end of next week.

A quick Google search suggests :

1. Camera Clinic in Collingwood Victoria. cameraclinic.com.au But a post to
birding-aus from 2012 http://birding-aus.org/leica-warranty-and-service-is-
worthless-2/ suggests there were problems.

2. Rogers Optics & Restoration in Padstow NSW. http://www.
rogersopticsrestoration.com.au/

3. Optical Repairs & Services in Beldon WA. http://www.opticalguru.com This
obviously would be the best for me as I could drop them off. I don't know
if they do warranty repairs.

There is a birding-aus post from 2012 that lists places for binocular
repairs. http://bioacoustics.cse.unsw.edu.au/archives/html/
canberrabirds/2012-12/msg00332.html

Thanks for any help and advice
