I've put some notes together to try to bring to the attention of people the
fact that an environmental disaster of epic proportions is underway in
Queensland as a result of uncontrolled land-clearing. The Queensland
Parliament votes soon on new laws to control the clearing, which saw
300,000 hectares bulldozed last year. However, it appears that Cook MP
Billy Gordon, whose vote is needed by the minority Labor Government, is set
to vote down the legislation.

I'm asking that people urge Gordon to do the write thing. Contact details
for him are in the following blog post. There are only a few days left to
turn things around. At stake are huge tracts bushland and the lives of
millions of native birds.
