Hi all,

I hope that you’re well on this Friday afternoon. I’m writing to let you
know that due to the weather conditions we are closing access to
birdwatchers until further notice.

We were called out today by a bird watcher who got his car bogged and as a
result, took a drive to look at the condition of the tracks. They are in
pretty poor condition – slippery, with water pooling and visitors starting
to drive further and further off track to avoid the pooling water (and
closer to the pond banks). So while it is certainly not ideal, for the sake
of safety, potential bogging and track conditions, we believe it’s for the
best.

I have drafted an email to our communications team who will send it out to
everyone on the bird watching email list shortly. We have also put a sign
on all gate entries, saying that entry is not permitted.

Hopefully with a few sunny days things will dry out shortly and we’ll be
able to reopen. Sorry for any inconvenience.
