I am collecting data on the birds around Emmaville up on the northern
tablelands near Glen Innes. If you have done some birding there could you
send me any lists and locations you have for the area (roughly 50kms around
Emmaville itself)? The operator of the caravan park, Donna, told me there
had been a big group Birdlife Queensland and the Gold Coast had visited so
if you are out there in Birding-aus land please get in touch at
 <> .

While staying in the van park I watched with fascination as a Masked
Woodswallow was pursued by a large bee with vigour. What the WS had in sheer
speed the insect seemed to make up for in manoeuvrability. It made contact
with the tail at least twice. The purpose of this, evolutionarily or
otherwise, I could only speculate.
