A Change.org petition has started to have a Dundonnell (Victoria) site protected from wind farm development. The area is prime habitat with probably the highest density of flocking and nesting sites in Victoria for Brolga which is a threatened species in the State. The site is also of national significance for a number endangered flora and fauna species including Latham's Snipe. The Victorian Planning Minister, Richard Wynne, is being petitioned not to grant a planning permit for the wind farm. Brolga are under severe pressure in Victoria from habitat loss. Please sign the petition to help us save this valuable habitat. There are other sites for wind farms in less sensitive areas but once displaced the Brolga will have nowhere to go. <https://www.change.org/p/richard-protect-brolga-habitat-in-southwest-victor ia-now> https://www.change.org/p/richard-protect-brolga-habitat-in-southwest-victori a-now Jane Hayes

Birding-Aus mailing list

To change settings or unsubscribe visit:
http://birding-aus.org/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus_birding-aus.org
|
