I was very excited to first hear then see two Glossy Cockatoos.
We, my partner and I now live and travel on a sailing boat.
Our location was in Canaipa Passage between Stradbroke Island and Russell
Island.
27.38.254 S
153.25.064 E
It was around 5.30 pm, when the Glossies flew from the north into perch on a
tree across from us, Stradbroke I. side. Whilst there, visibility wasn't
possible due to heavy foliage but they occasionally made a muted call. Then
shortly after a Whistling Kite called and flew close to their location setting
them up. They then flew towards us and over our yacht to Russell Island passing
over the Royal Qld Yacht Squadron Canaipa.
( It is the Squadron’s ‘down-the-bay’ property on the north east tip of
Russell Island)

Are there records of Glossy Cockatoo on Russel?

Happy Birding,
Burney.
