Hi Bob
It's a Whiskered Tern in non-breeding plumage, It doesn't have the right
head-pattern with the distinctive black drooping behind the eye on the fore
ear-coverts. The black should droop well below the level of the eye, in this
bird it's more or less level without the distinct marking.-Kevin Bartram

Hi Birders - again!

By very fortunate coincidence birder/photographer Max Sutcliffe was at the
LC STW on the same day (as we visited taking photos and having reviewed his
photos found the tern!!!!!

Ive attached his crop of the 'suspect'!

I'm sure those of us who pondered it at the time would value the opinions of
those more skilled in tern identification. Look forward to your responses.

Thanks already to those who responded - it seems it is a possibility.

Cheers

Bob Ashford
