The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period
Monday, September 7, 2015 to Sunday, September 13, 2015:

Area: SA

Date: Saturday, September 5, 2015

Location: Cleland Conservation Park

Bassian Thrush (Zoothera lunulata) (2) 2 seen foraging beneath an Exocarpos in
woodland beside the Beela Track just to the north of the antenna complex off
Shurdington Rd. Both periodically flitted up into the Exocarpos but soon
returned to the ground. One called occasionally, making a soft 'purring' noise.

Fan-tailed Cuckoo (Cacomantis flabelliformis) (2) 2 seen (1 male & 1 female)
just to the south of the antenna complex and on the opposite side of the Beela
Track. They were both flitting about and calling then the female remained on a
perch and the male made numerous forays onto the ground. He returned several
times to where the female was waiting and presented her with a series of
caterpillars which she ate. One or other of them (not sure which) occasionally
made a soft 'whe-oooo' call. Interesting courtship behaviour in action.

Crescent Honeyeater (Phylidonyris pyrrhopterus) (1) Seen in bushland off
Reynolds Drive along the Carro Track. 1 HE acting in a very agitated manner in
the presence of 5 Grey Currawongs, one of which was hanging around a particular
area which the Crescent HE was also frequenting. Got the impression there was
probably a nest nearby which the Currawongs were threatening. Lots of noise and
flying about!

Date: Monday, September 7, 2015

Location: On our Rockleigh property

White-winged Chough (Corcorax melanorhamphos) (3) A small group of choughs,
between 2 and 4 birds, is often seen in our creek line, which has plenty of
water. Today 3 choughs were being shooed out of a tree by 3 annoying magpies.
The choughs moved to the next tree, the magpies were satisfied, and promptly
flew off.

Date: Friday, September 11, 2015

Location: private property adjoining western side of Hale Conservation Park

Buff-banded Rail (Gallirallus philippensis) (1) 1 bird scratching around in a
vegie garden next to where I have some nesting geese. It took flight once it
managed to get through the chicken wire to hide in some fallen Eucalytpus
obliqua limbs nearby. I was quite surprised to see this bird here, with the
only water closeby being an old bath which the geese use.
