A couple of nights ago, I left microphones out all night in Dharug National Park, NSW and this call was recorded just before midnight. The habitat was temperate rainforest and wet eucalypt forest in a valley, around the Mill Creek camping area.

There are a couple of very soft notes after 2-3 seconds, but the main call starts at 10 seconds. The call continued on and off for almost an hour.

An Australian Brush Turkey was hanging around the camp earlier in the afternoon but this call is unlike the typical grunts and deep booms of this species.

Any ideas on what this call could be?
