Richard,

We had a similar experience last year (29 July) inland from Calen Qld,
north of Mackay.
It flew very close to us while we were having coffee. It flew from forest
on one side of the road into the forest on the other side, weaving through
the trees before perching in a eucalyptus about 25 m into the trees. It was
a big surprise for us. (Checklist S19250758)
