You can lodge your sightings over the next 4 days if you want to participate in 
a global event - see  http://gbbc.birdcount.org

>From memory, Australia finished about 5th in the world ranking (for the number

It would be interesting to know whether the first species logged this year is 
an owl, frogmouth, nightjar or cuckoo …
