   Birdline Tasmania

   Published sightings for the week ending 7 Sep 2014.

   Thu 4 Sep Masked Owl (2), Morepork Ridgeway Park
   On the western side of the reservoir at around 1040 hrs, a Masked Owl
   called and another responded immediately with a screech and trill.
   After a period of silence, one bird flew over the road towards the
   reservoir and was lost to sight. Shortly after, the other bird gave
   another brief trill. Morepork heard calling sporadically from somewhere
   above Ridgeway from 0945-1145 hrs.

   Tue 2 Sep Swift Parrot Cnr Dunne Drive and Big Roaring Beach Road,
   Surveyors Bay
   Three Swift Parrots observed feeding and darting in black gums (ovata).
   Covey of 6 Brown Quail flushed from long grass on vacant block at same
   site. Five Welcome swallows sighted 50m from Big Roaring Beach - the
   first for spring this far south.
