hi Donald,

fig-parrots are pretty easy to see in & around cairns itself too... they are
usually pretty easy to see on the Esplanade in the city, plus anywhere in the
older leafy inner suburbs too, such as Whitfield in Centenary Lakes &
surrounds...

do u know their calls?? that's the best way to be alerted to their presence -
if u don't then I strongly suggest that u learn them...

the northern beaches area is great too - that's where I live & I see them
everyday without trying, even if for just a fleeting moment as they flit from
tree to tree... best is to locate some fruiting figs, especially low down at or
just above eye-level & - hang about for a while - any time of day is fine but
the earlier the better...
if u would like some specific locations then perhaps let me know when u will be
in cairns & I maybe able to direct u to some suitable fruiting trees.

my pic in the Pizzey & Knight App was taken at trinity beach nearby to where I
live at just below eye-level - I've attached a series of images of these 2
birds herewith...

cheers,
martin cachard
