Frank,
At Mt Hypipamee on the walk from the crater to the Barron River there are a number of sites regularly used by a very dark bird. She will roost under epiphytes on horizontal branches if it is wet in the early morning and these are good areas to search during the day.

Regards,
Alan

I will have a few days in the Cairns / Atherton Tablelands area in late July.

I would be interested in seeing this form of Southern Boobook. Are
there any sites where they might be more likely?

I haven't booked accommodation yet. One night in Cairns then three
more nights. Maybe two at Kingfisher Park and one at Lake Eacham area.

Thanks
