You would think that, but actually in the U.S. the saying has illogically
always been "could care less" when what is really meant is "couldn't care
less." Perhaps it works because we say it with a sarcastic tone. I don't
know the origins, but it has been the common way of saying it at least since
I was a kid more than 50 years ago.

I have not been to Australia in 20 years, but my recollection is that the
National Parks were wonderful. Apparently you have the same problems we
have here in the U.S. -- insufficient money to properly maintain the parks
and too many politicians who could care less. I guess I will need to return
soon, while they are all there, and to see Royal National Park, which
burned while we were over there.

tatement that we have too many National Parks. Our National Parks need
ar more funding and far more staff - and then they would contribute to
