Alas and alack!
Fay and I were birding Pioneer Park [central Nanango] and only just managed to
get back home for 1830 hours [6.30 pm]. While Fay put on the kettle I switched
on the television ready to watch “Hello Birdy” -only the “idiot box” was, for
some reason, tuned into Channel 10. My thumb moved across the control panel
[Fay assures me channel-surfing is a purely male obsession] to locate ABC 1.
In that moment I noted that the screen was showing me a snow-covered mountain
scene: I have a long-standing passion with mountains – no doubt something to do
with all those Snow Buntings I failed to see in my halcyon days. I then
recognized the dulcet tones of David Attenborough and I was hooked. Fay is one
with me on the question of “Hello BIrdy”.
To improve matters further, at 1930 hours [7.30 pm], on SBS, there was a tiger
Today’s television guide informs me that Attenborough will be back next
Saturday and that the tigers will be replaced by leopards.
So its “Goodbye BIrdy”, hello effective wildlife documentaries.
