Hi all
Sorry it's a slightly belated report.
Tom McCrie saw and photographed a Christmas Frigatebird at Nightcliff
(coastal suburb of Darwin) last Friday. There have been influxes of
frigatebirds during the last week or so, and this one was in with 3
Lessers. David James was kind enough to check out a photo, and concluded it
was definitely Christmas.

There have been Darwin reports in 2 previous years - one (or two) birds
were photographed in 1974 (accepted by BARC), and there were two birds
reported in 1986, though I'm not sure of details, or if
photographs/descriptions were taken, and seems they weren't submitted to
BARC.

The current one is unlikely to be twitchable, as it hasn't been seen since
the initial observation, but anyone wanting to chance the phalarope up
there could end up with a lucky bonus.

Niven
