Franklin's Gull Lake Barambah (Bjelke-Petersen Dam)
Bird photographed at Caravan Park Boat Ramp today 30 January about 10am take first left through the park down the hill to the public ramp. Note size differential with Silver Gull. Also refer Sarah's notes re roost site across from Ramp and slightly to left (pelicans, gulls etc,). Also seems to forage at Dam Day Park shoreline (toilets, BBQ's etc.). Best chance of a good shot is when fishers come in and clean fish at one of the ramps as occurred today - use the car as a hide.

Wed 29 Jan Franklin's Gull Lake Barambah (Bjelke-Petersen Dam)
Initially seen from the end O'Neill's Road on opposite shore with pelicans from 0945. 'Scope required. At 1110 it flew towards the dam wall area and mixed with flying Silver Gulls for a short while before flying back to original spot on far side of dam where it still remained at 1310.

Mon 27 Jan Leaden Flycatcher! Woodland on Murgon-Kilcoy Road
Thanks to those who rightly pointed out that our Satin Flycatcher was a Leaden in very fresh breeding plumage! Shape of breast demarkation - straight when it would have been down curved at the sides; and paleness of under tail when it would have been much darker in the Satin are two of the key ID features that we missed. Plus back of bird is not consistent with the glossiness of Satin Flycatcher. Recordings taken of the call also inconclusive. A learning exorcise! Uploaded a different shot of the same bird.
