Hello all,
I've booked a boat for two 3 day seamount pelagic trips in mid
and late January from Brisbane.

We're departing Scarborough Marina early on day one and travelling to either
the Brisbane or Queensland Seamounts, which are approx 200km directly
offshore.  The entire second day will be spent on the seamount and the third
day we'll cruise back into Brisbane.

We'll start chumming on the way out to the shelf and continue chumming until
we're 200km offshore.  The trip has been planned to visit these northern
seamounts when the sea temperature will be at its hottest, which should be
around 27-28deg.

On the Southport Pelagic trip in Jan 2013, both Polynesian Storm Petrel and New
Zealand Storm Petrel were seen and photographed.   Also seen was the
mystery, still unidentified 'New Caledonian SP', which many believe could be
the long lost 'Lined Storm Petrel'.

Apart from the usual tropical seabird species, we'll also be on the look out
for several tropical Pacific Ocean tubenoses yet to seen on Australian Pelagic
trips.

These include: Phoenix Petrel, Christmas Shearwater and Vanuatu Petrel.  There
is also a chance of seeing Collared Petrel, which has been recorded once off
NSW and several times north off Norfolk Island.

The boat is a 46' Grand Banks, which is a long range ocean cruiser.  If you
have been to the Torres Strait with me by boat in the past, you will know Bob
the skipper.  The Grand Banks is his other boat.

The dates are 18,19, 20 January 2014 and 31 Jan, 1 Feb, 2 Feb 2014.

The cost for three days is $1200pp.

Most places are already taken but I still have a couple of spots on each trip.
I will probably be able to pick people up from Brisbane airport the night
before and although I haven't asked the skipper yet, I'm hoping those from
interstate can sleep on the boat the night before to save accommodation
expenses.

If you would like a spot please let me know.

Cheers
Richard Baxter
