As girls (OMG 70 years ago!) in suburban Brisbane my sister and I would
watch the nightly swarms of hundreds of "flying foxes" heading to feeding
grounds. You had to cover your head, of course, because if one landed on
it, you couldn't get it off and you had to have all your hair cut off!
