Hi Jeff,

Nice shots!
The Honeyeater looks to me like a Yellow-spotted Honeyeater - the bill seems
relatively thick, the ear-patch diamond-shaped and the eye dark brown.
The Flycatcher is a definitely Leaden Flycatcher - 'lead-coloured' as opposed
to shiny black in Satin and also the shape of the bib which is convex in Leaden
and in your bird but concave in Satin.

Cheers,

Nikolas

Can anyone help with a positive honeyeater ID? I am uncertain of the
differences between a Graceful HE (Meliphaga gracilis) and a Yellow-spotted
HE Meliphaga notata. The bird in question was seen in mangrove forest on
Redden Island just north of Cairns in July. The bird in question is the
last photograph at:
http://pngnature.wordpress.com/2013/09/07/cairns-holiday-3/ I think it is a
Yellow-spotted but would like confirmation if possible.
And just to be certain- the bird above is a Satin and not a Leaden
Flycatcher?

Thanks,

Jeff Crocombe
