Birdline South Australia

Published sightings for the week ending 21 Jul 2013.

Fri 19 Jul Spotted Harrier, Elegant Parrot Arid Lands Botanic Gardens, Port Augusta
With Kathy Costello. Weather cloudy, windy, cold, with intermittent showers. Harrier flying low over chenopod plain; Elegant Parrots near boardwalk.

Thu 18 Jul Australasian Gannet, Little Black Cormorant, Pacific Gull West Beach
Feeding frenzy at midday today with a pack of over 40 Little Black Cormorant frantically diving, surfacing, then flying forward, landing and diving again, following what must have been a large school of fish moving south about 30m off the beach. Great crested terns joined in and eventually even 4 Australasian Gannet joined in the maelstrom. 2 immature Pacific Gull clumsily trying to get a piece of the action, too.

Sat 13 Jul Eastern Reef Egret Brownlow KI '1' Cell'
Beach on Investigator Strait near the caravan park. Weather partly cloudy, calm, cool. Eastern Reef Egret walking along the beach in shallow water feeding actively.
