Hi all,

Thanks to some great work from Debbie Sullivan, we've managed to tentatively
organise a pelagic trip off Esperance for Saturday 30th November this year.
This is the first trip organised off Esperance so it's difficult to know what
to expect, but hopefully we will see the usual albatrosses, petrels and
shearwaters and possibly something different for WA (Short-tailed Shearwater is
a very good chance, and Gould's Petrel have been reported from the area
previously).

The continental shelf break is a long way offshore at Esperance, so the trip
would depart at around 5am from Esperance (aiming to dock again around 4.30pm).
The boat is the 60ft 'Southern Conquest', which is slightly larger even than
the boat we use for Hillarys (Perth) trips, so we need a reasonable number of
participants for the trip to run. The cost is expected to be $120 per person
with 30 people, increasing if we have fewer people (e.g. to $140 per person
with 25 people). If you're interested, please contact me by e-mail at
for more info or to reserve a place

Esperance is a fair drive from Perth, so we will probably try to arrange some
carpooling closer to the time for those worried about the drive

Cheers,
John
