Coalition Against Duck Shooting (CADS) members displayed the following birds
in front of the Premier's office last Thursday, June 13, following the June
11 close of the 2013 season. Needless to say, Dr Napthine did not inspect
the grisly haul.

Photos of the Black-fronted Dotterel, the Darter and an Australasian
Shoveler are on my flickr site:

Game species

8 Pink-eared Ducks

2 Australasian Shovelers

1 Hardhead

6 Grey Teal

2 Chestnut Teal

2 Pacific Black Ducks

Protected species

34 Eurasian Coots

1 Black-fronted Dotterel

9 Black Swans

1 Hoary-headed Grebe

1 Little Black Cormorant

1 Darter

1 Freckled Duck

1 Musk Duck

If anyone can hazard a guess as to why the Lt Black Cormorant has what seems
to be a blue bill, please get in touch. Personally, I have no idea how
anyone could mistake a Darter, whether semi-submerged or drying its wings
(or standing on its head) for a duck. Maybe it was a foggy day.

Coming soon: the season's totals. Thanks.
