Hi All,

This week husband James and I had the pleasure of hosting a delightful American birding couple, Daniel Marks and Mary West, on the Sunshine Coast. This occurred through the birdingpal network. On Sunday they move on to Melbourne.

A death in their Melbourne host family means they will unexpectedly be staying in commercial accommodation somewhere around central Melbourne.

Daniel is speaking at a conference at Monash on Monday, and they will be free to go birding on Tuesday and Wednesday. I suggested one of the best venues for birding is the Western Treatment Plant.

If anyone with a gate key is free either Tuesday or Wednesday to accompany Dan and Mary to the Western Treatment Plant, I can guarantee you some very good company. They are willing to hire a car, or else pay costs in a generous birder's car, whichever is more convenient.(I'm not familiar with the recent access rules for the WTP.)

Alternatively, as an alternative if there is no offer of help to get to the WTP, perhaps someone might volunteer to take them birding at another good location. They have not been to Melbourne before, but are pretty good with a satnav.

Please contact either Dan or Mary directly if you can help.

Cheers,

Jill
