Slaty-backed Thornbill, Gilbert's Whistler, Redthroat
Lake Goongarrie 10' Cell
Most of the species seen were in areas along Pianto Road between 2km and 12 km east of the Kalgoorlie to Menzies Highway; some were also seen east of Comet Vale on sand dunes adjacent to the lake (an old mining track leads from the highway down to the lake's edge). There had been 40 mm rain in early March and everything was looking fresh with new growth and flowers on many plants. All three species were present along a well vegetated sand dune on the edge of the lake. Slaty-backed Thornbill ID photo.
