Fri 7 Dec Australian Painted Snipe Kellys Swamp & Jerrabomberra Wetlands, Fyshwick
Australian Painted Snipe (1) A female in the cut channel in the reed beds adjacent to Bittern hide at 0650. Had disappeared within about 5 minutes. Photographed by Geoffrey Dabb. Appears to be an immature bird, colour on face and neck rather patchy, and lacks the chestnut nape patch of an adult female.

Thu 6 Dec Pied Cormorant Jerrabomberra Wetlands/Lake Burley Griffin
3 Pied Cormorants on the eastern end of the lake (Jerra Wetlands peninsula) among Gt Cormorants and Darters.

Red-kneed Dotterel, Spotted Harrier Jerrabomberra Wetlands
Now increased to 8, still the solitary sharp-tailed sandpiper. Also a single Spotted Harrier.

Wed 5 Dec Red-kneed Dotterel Kelly's Swamp
The number of Red-kneed Dotterel has increased from 1 to 6. Also one Sharp-tailed Sandpiper observed on the muddy western shore of Kelly's Swamp this morning, and 2 Black-fronted Dotterel.

Two adults and 5 chicks in front of Ardea hide

Mon 3 Dec Spotted Harrier Parkwood Road, Holt. A.C.T.
06.30 hours today. Bird perched on roadside fence post. I stopped car 25 metres away and viewed it through binoculars for approximately 5 seconds until it flew away slowly, keeping just above the tops of the fences.
