Hello yet again,
Just a quick update regarding my query about birding sites in/around
Parkes, NSW. As it happens, no particular places in or just around Parkes
were suggested, which didn't come as a surprise (there might not be
anything to recommend?).
But when it came to birding further away (200-300 km radius) from Parkes,
things changed. Markku managed to get a car for the past Sunday and had two
recommended options: either to Capertee Valley or towards the Leeton area.
In the end, the decision was easy: if Markku drove to Leeton, he would have
a personal bird guide with him! The trip was agreed upon and it was a
success: Markku ticked at least a dozen new species in the
Leeton-Griffith-Binya SF area! And the icing on the cake? If Markku will
have free days on the following weekend, they will do it again and retry
all the dipped species.
That is just great! A huge public thank you to Max for your information and
help and to Chris for your information!
So, yet again I am in your gratitude fellow birders in Australia. Your
hospitality on average surpasses anything I've encountered before - and I
salute you. It is difficult enough trying to help Markku from the other
side of the globe, so every bit of help is welcome. Thus, I will continue
to ask for your help if such work trips emerge in the future. It is only up
to you, if you want or even can provide me with any information or help.
By the way, Markku finally saw and photographed some Freckled Ducks in
Forbes Gum Swamp on Saturday. Don't know the exact amount yet, but I'll ask
him.
