White-bellied Sea-eagle
Howth
Two adult birds seemed to be resting on the ground in the middle of a dirt paddock. The smaller one, presumably male, had dirty feet, legs, 'trousers' and tail feathers. His left foot was on a stone which he lifted slightly on occasion as if to check for lizards or invertebrates. After about twenty minutes he flew off to a tree. The 'stone' was a very large, fat dead eel which obviously took some subduing.
