Tue 6 Nov BLUE-WINGED KOOKABURRA NORTH ARM STATE SCHOOL,QLD,4561
A single bird perched on wires at the eastern side of the school grounds, seen just minutes after sighting the spotted harrier reported earlier. Very surprised since neither species have been observed since our move here 2.5 years ago and not expected here either .I heard a call some days before that I attributed to this species, but then did not register in the absence of a sighting. Today a neighbour Mrs Jane Whitehorn reported a single 'large unusual kingfisher' seen around her property for some days past. Perhaps the prolonged dry spell in southern and central Queensland has generated some unusual movements.

SPOTTED HARRIER FAIRHILL ROAD, NINDERRY ,QLD 4561
One adult bird observed flying low over bare paddocks to the north of Fairhill Botanic Gardens and Nursery. Unexpected visitor brought in by the three month dry spell?
