Sun 4 Nov	Painted Snipe, Red-kneed Dotterel, Brown Goshawk,Hoary-headed Grebe McPherson Rd Swamp, Tuggerah A half hour search of the McPherson Rd Swamp this morning found a pair of adult Painted Snipe in the central part of this wetland. The Painted Snipe were seen with a Black-tailed Native-hen, 2 Red-kneed Dotterel, a Hoary-headed Grebe, a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, single White-necked Heron and Intermediate Egrets and a Buff-banded Rail at this wetland. Also present were Masked Lapwings with 3Y, Black-winged Stilts with 4Y, 92 Hardhead, 100+ Coot, 2 Tawny Grassbirds, a Brown Goshawk was having a tiff with a Black-shouldered Kite, and Dollarbirds, Sacred Kingfisher, Channel-billed and Koel Cuckoos were also present. Sat 3 Nov	Horsfield's Bushlark 4 km SE of Gooloogong Horsfield's Bushlark call and on fence in wheat crop. Neville Schrader (1702)
	Crimson Chat, White-fronted Chat 10 km w of Canowindra Crimson Chat MF on fence near canola crop. White-fronted Chat - pair in grape vineyard. Neville Schrader (1702)
	Mangrove Gerygone, Latham's Snipe (2), Red-necked Avocets (20) Bicentennial Park, Homebush Bay A good few hours was had this afternoon at Bicentennial Park with 2 Latham's Snipe showing very well beside Lake Belverdere and in the island in the middle of the lake was a roosting Nankeen Night Heron amongst the nesting waterbirds (Cormorants, Ibis and 3 pairs of nesting Royal Spoonbill). Beside Homebush Bay were a group of 15 Black-fronted Dotterels roosting on one of the shipwrecks. At the Waterbird refuge were 20 Red-necked Avocets, 16 Pacific Golden Plovers, a single Bar-tailed Godwit,100 or so Black-winged Stilt but best of all was a single Mangrove Gergone in the adjacent mangroves. 	Great Knot Stockton Sandspit Single Great Knot with the waders at Stockton. Many Red-necked Avocets (couldn't find Banded Stilt), plus the usual Black/Barwits, Red-necked Stints, Sharp-tailed Sandpipers, Red Knots, Curlew Sandpipers and Eastern Curlews. No Arctic Tern at the baths despite an extensive search of the area (swell was too large, which was soaking the rock platform). Joshua Bergmark, Max Breckenridge

	Australian Hobby Falcon Mackey Park, Marrickville 1 bird flew over main field heading east. Relatively uncommon in the inner west. Simon Gorta
	Pacific Baza, Fan tailed Cuckoo Western Edge of Moree (Mehi River) Just went down to check a spot that hasn't been checked in ages. A Fan-tailed Cuckoo was heard and 3 Pacific Bazas were seen, some being immatures. This species has been seen at this location before when Diamond Firetails were also present. Other Highlights were: A pair of Collared Sparrowhawk, 5 Channel-billed Cuckoos, a few Spotted Bowerbirds, Dollarbirds and Olive-backed Orioles. Curtis Hayne

Fri 2 Nov	Regent Honeyeater Campbelltown Went for a quick morning stroll in a small isolated Cumberland Plain Woodland remnant (less than 2 hectares) at Campbelltown and was delighted to come across a Regent Honeyeater. The site is within an urban landscape and is located at the corner of Parkside Crescent and Regents Street Campbelltown - not far from the Macarthur Square Shopping Centre. The bird was feeding on the lerp on eucalyptus leaves whilst be harassed by a pair of Little Wattle Birds. Michael Paul

	Collared Sparrowhawk Cambridge Gardens, near Penrith One adult bird was hunting in my neighbourhood passing over my house a few times around 11am today. Watched it for a short while as it was circling, constantly being harassed by an Australian Magpie-lark and several Welcome Swallows with the odd Noisy Miner joining at times. Ákos Lumnitzer
Thu 1 Nov	Topknot Pigeon Iron Cove Bridge/Birkenhead Point Shopping Centre Another flock in the inner west, this time 20 birds heading north. Lots of Topknots around in the inner west at the moment, not quite sure about where they are going, but of 3 flocks seen (and previously reported) one flock heading south west near Leichhardt (13), another flock heading south east (also 13), and this flock heading north (20). 	Common Greenshank Riverstone Today at Riverstone on private property 1 new bird a common greenshank,checked out the pond in Bottoms Rd Pitt Town owner has pumped out 90 % of all water out only 2 Red-kneed dotterel remain Tony Dawe
	Arctic Tern Newcastle Ocean Baths Rock Shelf The bird was still present today after lunch loafing in the warm conditions with over 200 Common Terns, about 5-6 White-fronted Terns, 2 Little Terns (1 each breeding and non-breeding) and over 50 Crested Terns. The bird has been present in the middle of the day every day since it was first observed on Monday and was also observed late in the day yesterday. Allan Richardson
	Spotted Harrier (x2 adults) Penrith Quarries (Private property) Both were clearly visible and within 100m of the main road, Castlereagh Rd. One adult was on the west side, quartering over tall grass paddocks opposite Church Lane and the second adult flew in from the SE and both flew to the big lake north of Church Lane where they engaged in mutual flight over the treetops. One bird vanished and the second hung around north from that lake and was quartering between the lake and West Wilchard Rd. A great morning. Ákos Lumnitzer

	Crimson Chat, Superb Parrot Toogon Road,Cranbury Having birded this area for the past twelve years for the first time I have seen a pair of Crimson Chats along the Toogun Road, I first saw the female on Tuesday morning at 7.45am lots of sightings along the fencing . Then on the Weds morning about 7.30am, I saw not only the female but also the brightly coloured male. It would suggest to me that because they stayed in the same vicinity, they are proposing nesting. At the same time in the local area there are literally hundreds of Superb Parrots feeding on oats the biggest flock I counted was over 60 birds. David Simpson
	Grey Goshawk Nepean Weir About 300m downstream from weir. Grey phase hanging around the small islands, probably hunting waterskinks, which are rather abundant in area at the moment. Ákos Lumnitzer
	Topknot Pigeon Bigola Plateau, overlooking Pittwater Sighted a pair of Topknots, my 1st sighting of this breed, 6.15am, about 10 metres away top branch of a dying eucalypt, observed with naked eye and field glasses, no doubt about accuracy, observed for approx 7 minutes. Stephen Cottier

	Spectacled Monarch Harrington The rainforest at Harrington is "full" of Spectacled Monarchs. I called in on Tuesday moring (and again on Wed morning) - there must be at least half a dozen of them there. Alan Stuart
	Wedge-tailed Eagle Castlereagh Nature Reserve I was driving north on the Northern Road at 19:49 when I noted the eagle fly across toward the reserve and land in a tree with a pursuing Australian Raven. The location was about 500 meters past Spinks Rd. Ákos Lumnitzer
	Arctic Tern Newcastle Baths First year Arctic Tern present at Newcastle Baths around 1330 today. The bird was found by Allan Richardson yesterday. The image shows the bird in the centre with comparison available to surrounding Common Terns. Apart from about 80 of the latter there were at least 2 White-fronteds, giving a rare "commic trifecta". 3 Littles and numerous Cresteds rounded out the tern tally nicely. 	Regent Honeyeater Capertee Valley One bird seen near the bridge on Glenowlan Rd. Plenty of blossom in the valley, with Musk Lorikeets at most sites plus lots of Little Lorikeets and Black-chinned Honeyeaters as well. Turquoise Parrot was seen at Coco Creek and a few Plum-heads, Diamond Firetail and Hooded Robins around also. Nick Leseberg
	Olive backed oriole Male Wakehurst Parkway Opposite Academy of Sport It attacked its self in the car side mirror Jacqui Marlow
	Pallid Cuckoo, White Winged Triller, white Necked Heron Eastlakes GC Pagewood Pallid Cuckoo seen along the fence line between the 2 golf courses at 8am. Flew off over the other course. Triller and W/N Heron seen on wagtail pond. Also lots of Yellow Rumped Thornbills. Tom Wilson
Mon 29 Oct	Latham's Snipe Bicentennial Park, Sydney Olympic Park Found early in the morning at the same spot where Australian Painted Snipe was reported the day before, along "Fishway" creek. No APS was seen. Tun Pin ONG
	Eastern Reef Egret Mid north coast Early afternoon, I saw a Reef Egret hunting at the beach on the northern side of Red Head (near Hallidays Point). Then in the early evening, while I was enjoying a beer at the Harrington Bowling Club, I looked out the window, and saw another Reef Egret foraging nearby. Alan Stuart
	Grey Goshawk Emerald Beach Caravan Park 1 Grey Goshawk just 30 meters along the path that runs north from the Caravan Park. Steve Edwards
	Kelp Gull Crookhaven Heads - Orient Point A single Kelp Gull was seen standing on mudflats 100m west of boat ramp with a small flock of Silver Gulls. As people and a dog approached the bird flew off but stayed nearby. Tide was quite low and the Beach Stone-curlew was not seen that was previously reported from the area, but there was people activity around. Carla Jackett

Sun 28 Oct	Black-tailed Native-hen, Spotless Crake, Latham's Snipe McPherson Rd Swamp, Tuggerah The Black-tailed Native-hen has returned to McPherson Road Swamp, Tuggerah having last been seen there 22/12/11. it is present in the same place as previously sighted. Also present was a Spotless Crake on the western side of the Swamp and 4 Latham's Snipe were found. Today (30/10/12) the Native-hen was still present, and a Spotted Crake was also sighted Kaye & Margaret Pointer, Michael Breheny per Alan Morris
	Crimson_Eastern Rosella hybrid, Topknot Pigeon Scheyville The Twitchathon got off to a good start Saturday with the Painted Snipe at SOP (many thanks Elisabeth Karplus). On Sunday we had the unexpected pleasure of two Topknot Pigeons at Longneck Lagoon and at Scheyville, closer inspection of a group of three Crimson Rosellas revealed a hybrid. 	Whimbrel, Gull-billed Tern, Eastern Curlew Camden Haven Inlet, Laurieton Observed a single bird feeding on the edge of the mangroves at ebb tide, nearby 3 Pied Oystercatchers, a single Gull-billed Tern and 5 Eastern Curlews Stephen Gallivan
	Pilotbird, Red-browed Treecreeper, Rock Warbler Blue Gum Swamp, Winmalee Two Pilotbirds at the first small creek crossing roughly 1.5km along the track. Red-browed Treecreeper and Rockwarbler also seen. Brendan Cook, Brad Gabriel and Tim Faulkner
	Superb Parrot, Crimson Chat Cowra 100 plus Superb Partots just east of Cowra. Several Crimson Chats 10km west Cowra. Brad Gabriel, Tim Faulkner and Brendad Cook
	Pied Oystercatcher, Bar-tailed Godwit Hen & Chicken Bay (inner west of Sydney) Caught the wrong state of tide twice for my White Ibis counts - although on both occasions saw about a hundred Bar-tailed Godwits! At approx 1715 saw one Pied O amongst them - which looks to have returned to this location, and so worth reporting. Barrie Ayres
	Painted Honeyeater Crown Station Road, Capertee Valley Single bird in flowering eucalypts. Also sizeable flocks of Little Lorikeets. Neil Broekhuizen
	Black Bittern, Possibe Baillons Crake Warriewood Wetlands Black Bittern showing extremely well feeding out in open for 10 mins at 6:30am at Katoa Close end of the boardwalk. Also here a very small crake crossed the mud from one reed bed to another but it was against the sun; the size had me thinking Bailons as the bird was tiny. No sign of the Painted Snipe at the construction site but a nearly all white duck (another observer thought it was a leucistic Black Duck) and a Little Grassbird calling. Woodlands very busy with bush birds - lots of Golden Whistlers,many E Yellow Robins with young, nesting Grey Fantails and Brush Turkey chicks amongst others Tom Wilson
	White-throated nightjar Sphinx memorial car park. 2 nightjars flew above the car park and into the valley between 7:50-8pm. Lots of calling followed the sightings until at least 8:15pm. A very inquisitive dusky antechinus was present as well. Max de Beer
	Pallid Cuckoo, White-winged Trillers Eastlakes Golf Course, Pagewood After a disappointingly frugal sea watch at Maroubra this afternoon, we stopped off at Eastlakes to see if we could find the Pallid Cuckoo and White-winged Trillers. 	Painted Snipe (1) Spotted Harrier (1) Crested Shrike-tit (1) Sydney Olympic Park Painted Snipe seen late afternoon on main island in Lake Belvedere adopting threat posture to Aust Raven. Spotted Harrier at Brickpit again-poor record shot attached. Male Crested Shrike-tit near Wool-La-Ra was a mega. Other good sightings today were Crimson Rosella, Dollarbird, Leaden Flycatcher, Musk Lorikeet, Swamp Harrier, Australian Pipit-92 sp. all up. Dion Hobcroft

	Australian Painted Snipe Sydney Olympic Park Australian Painted Snipe (1) Female bird. At Fishway creek flowing into the north of Lake Belvedere. 	Brown Goshawk Barden Ridge, Sutherland Brown Goshawk sitting on an old lattice fence about 15 m from a shrub where we have Spotted Doves nesting. About 10 min earlier my wife had sen "a large bird" fly out of this shrub. Roger Giller
Sat 27 Oct	Freckled Duck Gum Swamp Forbes At least 10 Freckled Duck seen at the swamp. White-backed Sallow, Cockatiel and Peregrine Falcon also nearby. Tim Faulkner, Brad Gabriel and Brendan Cook
	Freckled Duck Lake Cargelligo Sewage Treatment Works At least 40 Freckled Ducks seen at the ponds. Brendan Sheean, Ben Walmsley and James Brown
	Brolga, Australian Shelduck, Glossy Ibis Moneygar Creek Crossing, Gibson Way, Willie, Macquarie Marshes Two Brolga were seen feeding at the edge of the Marshes, a group of 6 Australian Shelduck seen, Red-kneeded Dotterles, 70+ Glossy Ibis, 2 Buff-banded Rail on the crossing, 2 small flocks of Sharp-tailed Sandpipers, Diamond Doves on the road, Swamp Harriers, B;lack-shouldered Kite, Whistling Kite, Black Kite, Brown Falcon and a Wedge-tailed Eagle overhead. 	Budgerigar, Black Honeyeater, Mulga Parrot Carinda In a bushland site about 300 m north-west of the centre of the village of Carinda where we started the NSW Twitchathon, a flock of 180+ Budgerigars was the best sighting! Also present were 20+ Black Honeyeaters feeding in flowerin Budda Erempohila mitchelli, along with Masked & White-browed Woodswallows, Singing & White-plumed Honeyeaters, singel Brown Honeyeater and Pallid Cuckoo, Hooded Robins, Peaceful, Bar-shouldered and Diamond Doves and a pair of Mulga Parrots. Fri 26 Oct	Black-necked Stork Beresfield Swamp One Black-necked Stork seen foraging with two Royal Spoonbill and around ten Intermediate Egrets in Beresfield Swamp, east of Tarro Nature Reserve, adjacent to the railway line. One Swamp Harrier, large numbers (50+) of Black-winged Stilt and the regular Chestnut Teal (30+) also observed. Mark Branson
