Hi all,

Having recently been to Mataranka (20th Sep), seen the Red Goshawk nest from
Martin Road, had a pleasant conversation with the lady of the nearby caravan
park where the birds used to nest, but unfortunately not seen the bird.., -
tho' we went away and returned later in the afternoon without luck - I'd like
to raise a matter of concern. The bird had been seen well the previous day by
others.

I've just looked at the recent thread about Mataranka on birding.aus archives -
but, has something else happened?? On our return, and being very aware that
one's using binocs in the direction of the nest put us in view of the two
properties by the nest-tree, I decided to "go knock on the door" of the lhs
property - the rhs one had a signboard marked "Private - Stay Out", OR words to
that effect - and ask permission to look closer at various trees on the
property, and indeed to seek advice, but, oh boy.... the lady of the house, who
was watering her garden told me in no uncertain terms to immediately get off
her property and would not allow me any questions what-so-ever!!
Has someone trespassed in the last few months, or what? Anyone know??
Please be warned, that we are obviously now NOT welcome and need to be very
discreet if looking for the birds there. What a shame....

Cheers,
Peter Madvig
