Hi all,

The "other group of birders" in Jenny's report were Heyn, Raja and myself. I
apologize for the late report.
We had a great time out there -thanks again, Toni & Peter! The species of the
trip was obviously Princess Parrot! We had a total of 82 species but dipped on
both "big greys" - Grey Falcon and Grey Honeyeater (Raja and I had a Grey
Honeyeater at Kunoth Well in September 2007, but it would have been great to
see this species again). We also missed a few of Jenny's other raptors. We had
a number of very close sightings of Rufous-crowned Emu-wrens, Dusky
Grasswren, Redthroat, Slaty-backed Thornbill, Banded Whiteface, White-fronted
Honeyeater, Orange Chat, Ground Cuckoo-shrike, albicauda Grey Fantail, handsome
Grey Butcherbirds (almost like intermediate between 'normal' Grey Butcherbird
and Silver-backed Butcherbird), Spinifexbird and Central Military Dragon.

06/16 (day 1) Alice Springs to Newhaven, 31 bird species, 2 identified mammal
species (plus Hopping Mouse Notomys spec)
06/17 (day 2) Newhaven, 38 bird species, 2 mammal species, 1 identified reptile
species (plus an unidentified largish skink)
06/18 (day 3) Newhaven to Alice Springs, 40 bird species, 1 mammal species
06/19 (day 4) Simpson's Gap, Santa Teresa Rd, Mount Gillen, 55 bird species, 2
mammal species
06/20 (day 5) Olive Pink Botanical Garden, 28 bird species, 1 mammal species
total trip 2012, 82 bird species, 6 mammal species, 1 reptile species, 2
identified butterfly species (the detailed report was too long and therefore
rejected by Birding-Aus)
