G'day all

The Audubon guide to North American birds is still showing at $2.99. I'm
installing it now so haven't compared it with the iBird guide but at a couple
of dollars each why not have both? Most of us have several Aussie field guide
books.

I can't speak for the Android platform but Apple's store clearly states what
version of iPhone/iPod/iPad you need to run any app.

I've paid top dollar for each of the field guide apps I have and don't regret
the cost. I just wish there were apps for other countries/regions. Greater
Europe is an obvious gap. South America would be a huge task. Africa is only
represented by the Sasol guide to southern countries (get this one too!). The
Sibley guide to North America has not been offered at a discount but I have no
doubt it is worth the $20 asking price. If anyone sees it discounted please
let the group know.

These things will only get better. The iBird app has been greatly enhanced
since I bought my copy in 2009. None of these updates cost a cent.

As a famous Aussie music guru says - "Do yourselves a favour" and check out
these great resources.

Cheers
Steve
