Hi All,

This is a desperate plea to all pelagic enthusiasts (east coast and
west!) and birders in general, we need more spaces filled to get the boat
out (especially on the Sunday 29th July trip). Book your space on the July
Albany pelagic today (email

Anybody hesitating due to transport, there are plenty of people driving
down from Perth, returning Sunday evening or Monday. Contact me offline if
you would like to share a ride.

Western Australia's oceans are a bit of a pelagic 'black hole', we know
next to nothing about seabirds off WA. Only about 30 odd birding pelagic
boat trips have been done off the SW WA EVER! Nothing like has been done
off the east coast.

If we don't get out to have a look and record what is out there, it will
never get done. So I'll just throw something to wet the appetite and
hopefully convince a few people to jump on board (pun intended!).

Some Potential Winter Rarities:

Tristams Albatross - radio tracked regularly off the SW WA coast (anyone
got a bird catching licence? (just kidding))
Amsterdam Albatross - Radio tracked off the south and SW coast of WA
Southern Fulmar (much more likely this year) - At least live records in WA
this winter so far
Grey Petrel - Recorded off Albany
Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatross - Rare but regular visitor to WA coast (not
sure about winter?)
Sooty Albatross - recorded off Albany
MacGillivray's Prion - Likely to occur
Fulmar Prion - as above
Blue Petrel - high on every birders pelagic wish list
Kerguelen Petrel - recorded semi regularly off WA
Spectacled Petrel - must be on the cards

The list could go on.

Go on, get out there and support the WA pelagic scene! Please pass this
onto anyone offline who may be interested in hearing about this once a year
opportunity.

Cheers,

Nathan
We need more support to get the Sunday 29th July Trip off Albany. Please
