Gary,
Your timing is excellent, September is the peak migration month in the UK - and
October still active. September is statistically one of the best months,
particularly in Scotland, for settled fine weather. If you give me any fixed
dates or places (eg how long you want to spend in Ireland or Scotland, there
are massive vehicle ferries from mainland UK to Ireland ) I will suggest a
cross section of habitats and birding places, as well as a some mainstream
tourist gems, and possible sequence of travel in both England, Scotland and
Ireland.Agree that memberships of RSPB and WWT (Wildfowl and Wetland Trust)
good investment. if you are an Australian member of the Australian National
Trust it will be recognised at the hundreds of superb English, Welsh and
Scottish National Trust properties, many standing in wonderful grounds - or
even prime habitat areas in their own right..Angus Innes (currently UK based).
