Yesterday, while visited my Mum near Freshwater Creek, near Geelong, Victoria I
was delighted to see 2 GANG GANG Cockatoos fly over also 2 or more YELLOW
TAILED BLACK Cockatoos hanging around incl. being pursued by resident Magpies.
The YTBs are regular visitors to her property partaking of Pine and Hakea
seeds.
Regulars including Eastern and Crimson Rosellas, Red Wattlebirds and others
happily sharing her apples, quinces, figs and other fruit currently ripening in
orchard; oodles of new Holland Honeyeaters and Superb Fairywrens; Yellow Rump
Thornbills, Grey Shrike-thrush, Barn Swallows that roost on the TV aerial,
looking very sweet, between feeding flights. Every so often one or more of
these bird will enter her glass sunroom and become trapped. Mum always knows
when this happens as the rest of the group will silently wait on the adjacent
TV antennae until the missing members can rejoin them. Alternately, when a
fairywren ventures in, a male will wait outside calling until the bird escapes.
Calling by Deakin Uni -Waurn Ponds there was a PEREGRINE FALCON (maybe Hobby -
no binos) repeatedly and slowly circling the Textile Research building
(currently a construction site).
Sadly also a road killed BARN OWL on the road adjacent to the bridge and road
works of the Stage4 Geelong Bypass road.
