For the information of all birders who have not yet undertaken the induction
programme which allows you to access the eastern section (Operations area)
of the Western Treatment Plant (WTP), I have received the following
notification from Melbourne Water -

"Please be advised as of Thursday March 1st that the Birdwatching Inductions
are to be booked for THURSDAYs and FRIDAYs only".

The induction is a necessary step to ensure that birders entering the
operations area are aware of the potential risks involved and act in
accordance with Melbourne Water's requirements.

As a reminder: you need a birdwatching permit to enter the WTP and once you
have the permit you can undertake the induction. Birdwatching permits can be
obtained and induction bookings made by contacting Melbourne Water.

Regards

John Barkla
