Hi Marie (and B-A in general),

Regarding Birding-Aus members donating bins, I wonder if it'd be an idea to
get some donations together and buy a job lot of cheaper bins. I got a few
pairs for 15 pounds each from an online shop in UK which have done me very well
and are quite tough. However, beforehand, I'd contact the Sri Lankan embassy to
make sure that the bins aren't going to be confiscated. Another possibility
would be that using pooled monetary donations, it might be possible to bargain
with a supplier for a better price for a larger number of pairs. It may also be
worth writing a trip report about birding with with the locals for a magazine
such as wingspan - if the suppier of the bins is told in advance, they might
even chuck a few pairs extra in if there's going to be good publicity.
 Cheers,

 Tony
