Hi Mark,
January 2008 we had 1 Devil at Lake St Claire and 6 Devils around Cradle
Mountain - hope there are still a few left in the area. Eastern Quolls were
around in the same areas.

Mark et al,
Wombats are easy at Narawntapu National Park - between Devonport and
Launceston. Always around the open plains near the Ranger's station, day and
night.
Quolls are generally pretty easy at Cradle Mountain , but that's not really
within an hour of Launceston. Not really sure of anything closer.
Devils are highly unlikely close to Launceston, apart from wildlife parks.
Facial Tumour Disease has devastated populations in all but the far northwest.
